Thief Clings On To The Side Of A Building For 3days To Avoid Being Caught

A thief spent three days clinging onto the outside of the fourth floor of a hotel building - because he didn’t want to be arrested and bring shame on his elderly mother. After he was spotted trying to steal power cables, he climbed up the outside of the hotel in the Chinese province of Shenzhen, before sitting on an external air conditioner for 70 hours.
During the ensuing stand-off police and rescue services stayed around the clock to try and talk him down but he refused to budge, according to The People’s Daily. As he dashed up the side of the building the emergency services, worried that the
man was suicidal, set up an inflatable cushion underneath him to catch him if he fell – only for him to move to avoid it.
During the stand-off he refused all food
and water, before eventually accepting a
bottle of water from a journalist from the
Shenzhen Evening News as a large
contingent of local media also gathered to
film the stand-off.
The man then broke down – telling the
reporter he was worried his actions would
have embarrassed his 70-year-old mother,
who police then offered to pay for him to
visit

After 70 hours on the side of the hotel he
eventually relented and climbed back into
the building before being arrested by the
solitary police officer who remained on
duty.
